Conventions of a crime film.

In our media lessons we've been looking at different styles of crime films. Through the use of slideshows and handouts, we have discussed:

•Props
•Sound
•Camera & Lighting
•Location
•Representation of Social Groups
•Narrative.

We also looked at various styles of crime films:

•Film Noir
•American Gangster
•British Gangster
•Spy
•Comedy
•Action

After we established the definition of a crime film and the different styles, we made a list of common features of the the crime film genre:

-dramatic lighting
-cigarettes
-corruption
-weapons
-chase
-crime i.e murder
-social groups
 -male protagonist
-mysterious sounding voice over
-non-linear narrative
-costume long jackets, suits
-criminals
-police

Laura, Mair and I then decided on a style we would like to film, and we decided on a 'Film Noir' theme as I really enjoy watching films of this genre and felt i already had an understanding of what to do.
